Sunday 5 April – Isaiah 43

Hi families! Another week, another Sunday of meeting virtually together! Join us on for our livestream here.

Kids Sunday Worksheet

You can download this week’s kids worksheet below to print at home. If you don’t have a printer at home, simply use some drawing/colouring tools and paper to answer the questions on instead.

You’ll notice on the worksheet that it mentions reading through Matthew 14 (which will happen in the sermon tomorrow). Another way that you could go through this story with your kids is to watch this short animation from Saddleback Kids.

Storm in a Bottle

You will need:

  • A water bottle/glass jar (some kind of transparent container)
  • Glitter/washing-up liquid
  • Food colouring
  • Small toy/object

Fill the bottle with water, add in some glitter or a squirt of washing-up liquid (or both) – it’s better to start with less glitter and washing-up liquid and add more if needed. Add a drop of blue food colouring (or whatever colour your child wants the water to be). Shake the bottle up to mix everything together and create your storm.

Once you have your storm in a bottle, hide the small toy or object somewhere around the room. Have your child try to find the object but they are only allowed to look through the stormy bottle!

Connecting the dots: Was the object ever out of the room when you were looking through the stormy bottle? No! You couldn’t always see it, but it was always there! Just like Jesus is always with us, even when we go through really challenging times. It might be really hard for us to see Him and remember that He is with us, but He never leaves us.

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.

Isaiah 43v2

Paper Boat

This one is for older kids to try on their own or for younger kids with lots of help from parents. Try your hand at making a paper boat!

Once your paper boat is made, fill up a sink, bucket or bath tub with some water and let your ships sail. Try making some waves and see how your boat holds up with waves knocking it around. Did your boat sink or did it stay afloat?

Connecting the dots: Imagine being a person in a boat that was facing waves just like your craft boat was. How do you think Peter would have felt getting out of the boat? What was it about Jesus that made Peter trust him? How easy is it for you trust Jesus?
